Public Policy

Activities in the field of public policies facilitating innovation and economic growth that the Consortium carries out on behalf of the Regione Piemonte regional government can be divided into two main categories:

  • the first involves a service supporting activities listed by the Administration in policy documents;
  • the second is strategic in nature and based on defining regional system development plans.

These two activities are complementary and characterize the contribution the Consortium makes to the growth and renewal of the local sector, as well as the strategic positioning of Piedmont on the national and international stage.

The Consortium has gained matchless experience of digital networks and technology at a European level, stratifying technological, economic, legal and organizational know-how and building a network of international relations that positions it as a key player and node in the development of the Internet in Italy and Europe. One important aspect of the approach with which TOP-IX deals with public policies is its attention to the international perspective and its ability to look at design issues from the point of view of practicality and feasibility.

More specifically, the Consortium’s work in the field of Public Policy concerns the following procedures and processes:

  • scouting and market research;
  • strategic consulting and advice;
  • support for regional policies;
  • analysis and evaluation;
  • training and dissemination.

Dati.Piemonte.it

The Piedmont region stood out nationally on the topic of “open data” in 2010, when it produced the first Italian Open Data portal. Since the creation of the dati.piemonte.it portal, Piedmont has continued its pioneering activities in this field, subsequently exploring and searching for potential solutions and “best practices” on how best to employ the data in its possession. TOP-IX is one of the founding partners of this initiative.

Piemonte Visual Contest

The Piedmont Regional Council, in partnership with TOP-IX and other players, organizes and promotes the PIEDMONT VISUAL CONTEST as part of a strategy to add value to Piedmont’s huge patrimony of data. Besides emphasizing the importance of exploring and analyzing datasets, the contest pays special attention to aesthetic issues and the visual language; both of which are fundamental in ensuring the data is “attractive” and easily accessible.
