DOME project for a European marketplace launched in Rome

By in Internet Exchange

Last week, in Rome, the kick-off meeting of DOME – A Distributed Open Marketplace for Europe Cloud and Edge Services was held in person.

The project, financed under the European Digital Europe Program, will take the form of a federated collection of marketplaces connected to a shared digital catalogue of cloud and edge services.

DOME will rely on the adoption of common open standards for the description of cloud and edge services and service offerings as well as their access through a shared catalogue. It will enable access through a single EU portal for cloud users, to an online catalogue of existing cloud-to-edge based service offerings, that are compliant with a pre-defined set of EU rules and requirement.

During the event, partners presented their technological contributions to the DOME infrastructure and their vision of the objectives to be achieved. The TOP-IX Consortium aims to propose its services on the DOME platform, with the aim of initiating and prmoting the creation of a “neutral fabric” on a European scale.

Finally, noteworthy is the presence of CSI Piemonte, as the only representative of the Public Administration, destined to pave the way for other European public entities, given the importance of service certification for the PA.
