Consortium

TOP-IX (TOrino Piemonte Internet eXchange) is a non-profit consortium set up in 2002 with the aim of creating and managing an Internet Exchange – IX) for the exchange of Internet traffic in North West Italy.

Starting from the core group of founder members (Atlanet, COLT Telecom, CSI-Piemonte, Eutelsat, Fastweb, Gruppo IH, IT GATE, Noicom – Eutelia, Reteitaly, SanpaoloIMI, Telecom Italia and Telespazio) … TOP-IX currently boasts members from various consumer commodity segments.

TOP-IX objectives are linked to the development of productivity in the Piedmont region and all over the North West by using ICT as a key to increase the efficiency of processes and stimulate new business ventures in the sector.

Membership Procedure

To become a Consortium member, a written application request should be sent to the Board of Directors declaring that the applicant possesses the requirements to be admitted and that the applicant knows and accepts, without any reserve, the By-Laws and company regulations.

The Board of Directors approves membership only having first evaluated the interests of the Consortium and the existence of the applicant’s required prerequisites.

The Consortium is open to all Internet operators and Internet-based companies in Italy and abroad, and in particular to those operators that supply or promote new technologies for the diffusion of Internet services.

The Board of Directors resolves application requests. The number of Consortium members is unlimited.

SEND A LETTER

Send an application letter to TOP-IX Board of Directors at TOP-IX offical address (via Maria Vittoria, 38 10123 TORINO – ITALY)

BOARD OF DIRECTORS APPROVAL

The membership application is submitted to the upcoming Board of Directors (after verification of the requirements).

APPROVAL COMMUNICATION

The Board of Directors resolves and gives formal notice to the applicant either in the event of a positive or negative result;

JOINING FEE REQUEST

In case of success the Board of  Directors gives formal notice via registered mail to the applicant, asking at the same time the payment of the Joining Fees. Joining Fees (once only) are defined as a multiple of the JFU (Joining Fee Unit = 5,000€). Particularly Joining Fees = N x JFU where N < NMAX. NMAX is the maximum number of shares of representation, distinguishing between the type of members as either INSTITUTIONAL members (NMAX = 220) or PRIVATE (NMAX = 100).

NEW MEMBER

On notification the applicant can now define the purpose of its membership. All the members have to pay an Annual Membership Fee (2,000€).
