From Internet Exchange to interconnection hub

Anticipating some trends that are emerging in the interconnection world, in 2008, TOP-IX started to provide, on its infrastructure, private interconnection services between different operators for the sale of IP Transit, in addition to the Public Peering, typical feature of the Internet eXchanges.

In an increasingly interconnected world, other services are gaining importance to complete the offer of Internet operators:
Geographical Ethernet connectivity;
Dedicated connectivity to the Public Cloud;
Security services, as protection against DDoS type attacks (Distributed Denial of Services);
Remote peering in other IXPs to redirect interconnections.

With the Marketplace, TOP-IX offers its affiliates the opportunity to access these new services, using a single access to their interconnection platform. In consortium approach, services are offered by other members of the Consortium.

Remote access
In addition, the presence of some hyperscale providers has, made TOP-IX interesting also for operators who have no direct presence in the Piedmont territory or who want to redound their peering interconnections. This is evidenced by the operators who have been linked through partnerships with other IXPs.
Partnership with the top operators (TOP-IX members) have begun, which allow remote access to TOP-IX with different capacities, up to 5 Gbps.
